Dr. Eugene Berger's primary research interests lie in 17th century South America and include Franciscan missions, indigenous slavery and Dutch piracy. His book, "," was published by the University of Alabama Press in 2023.

Berger is active in GGC’s HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) mission and is the co-advisor of the Organization of Latin American Students.

Berger has been happily married for more than twenty-five years to a fellow educator, and they have a son in college.

Los principales intereses de investigación del Dr. Berger se centran en la Sudamérica del siglo XVII e incluyen las misiones franciscanas, la esclavitud indígena y la piratería holandesa. Su libro, «Este mal incurable: Resistencia mapuche a la esclavitud española, 1598-1687», fue publicado por la University of Alabama Press en 2023.

Berger participa activamente en iniciativas relacionadas a la comunidad escolar hispana, (HSI, por sus siglas en inglés), y es co-asesor de la Organización de Estudiantes Latinoamericanos.

Berger lleva más de veinte cinco años felizmente casado con una colega educadora y tienen un hijo en la universidad.
