GGC's Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie named ASCB Fellow; receives service award

Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie, professor of biology, was named a聽. As a director for the ASCB's Faculty Research Education Development program, she helps underrepresented postdoctoral scientists and faculty at minority-serving institutions by pairing them with more experienced scientists for mentorship on grant applications.
Hammonds-Odie also received a Service Award from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine Basic Sciences' 鈥,鈥 an event that recognized Black scholarship, leadership, mentorship, service and
GGC IT majors receive summer internship stipends
Information technology (IT) majors聽Ryan Gambrell, '22, Ahkeelah Lindo, '22, and Joseph Ongchangco, '22, received summer internship stipends to work on open source programming projects as part of the聽, a聽global, online program focused on bringing new contributors into open source software development. Drs.聽Anca Doloc-Mihu and Cengiz Gunay, both associate professors of IT, collaborated with the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility to create these positions.

GGC's registered student organization, Information Technology Students of America, received a national 2022 Outstanding Membership Growth Special Recognition award from the聽聽for maintaining exemplary organizational operating performance.
