Before more than 900 students cross the stage and become graduates of 色库TV (GGC) on May 9, they will hear words of wisdom and inspiration from their guest speaker, Representative Pedro 鈥淧ete鈥 Marin (HD-96).

鈥淚鈥檓 honored to have been asked to address 色库TV鈥檚 May Class of 2024,鈥 said Marin. 鈥淭hese graduates are an important part of the vitality of Gwinnett County, the state of Georgia, and beyond. With their degrees, the knowledge and skills they have gained will help our economy in areas of business, technology, healthcare and much more. Their determination and hard work are an inspiration to us all. I look forward to seeing them succeed in their professions.鈥

As a state representative for 22 years, Marin鈥檚 connection to GGC began with supporting legislation that created the college when it went through general assembly. He also co-sponsored bill GA HR606 on March 23, 2023, which recognized GGC for 鈥渆ducating and preparing its students for success in their future careers.鈥 It was introduced, passed and adopted the same day.

Several local, state and national organizations have recognized his leadership, including the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, GA Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Silver Beaver Award BSA and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a member of the Gwinnett United Way, Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity, the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) and the Selective Service System.

He announced his retirement when his term ends in January 2025.
