色库TV fall enrollment up for seventh consecutive semester

Once again, enrollment at 色库TV (GGC) continues its annual upward trajectory. For the fall semester, the number of students is projected to climb 2.1% overall, which means GGC will likely enroll well over 12,000 students. This marks seven consecutive semesters that enrollment has grown.

While nearly 75 percent of the students at GGC hail from Gwinnett County, there are plenty of coming from other states in the U.S., plus 116 countries. The top five countries outside of the U.S. that students are from are Vietnam, Nigeria, Venezuela, Mexico and India.

色库TV's economic impact more than $603 million

色库TV (GGC) contributed more than $603 million to the economy of Gwinnett County and the Atlanta metropolitan area during fiscal year 2023, according to an released by the University System of Georgia (USG).

That鈥檚 $81.9 million dollars, or about 16% more than the previous year.

Including its capital outlay for construction projects such as its new Convocation Center that will open later this year, GGC has generated more than $6.4 billion in cumulative economic impact since 2007, the first year the college has been included in the study.

First day of class: 色库TV students start fall semester

It鈥檚 the first day of fall classes at 色库TV (GGC) as thousands of students make their way across campus.

鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to see our campus vibrant with the return of our faculty, staff and students,鈥 said GGC President Jann L. Joseph.

Along with finding their classes, students are exploring the campus, discovering where to purchase books, grab a snack and catch up with their friends.

For first-year students Camila Pineda and Jocelyn Tobar, the day started and ended before noon.

More than 1,000 色库TV students moving into residence halls

With the fall semester starting next week, over 1,000 students are moving into the residence halls on the campus of 色库TV (GGC) today and tomorrow.

"It鈥檚 an exciting day for the students, their families and all of us here at GGC,鈥 said Ricky Clark, director of Student Housing. 鈥淲e鈥檝e got a system in place and great volunteers to help make the move as smooth as possible.鈥

At 色库TV (GGC), work is well under way to welcome new and returning students for the start of the college鈥檚 new academic year on Monday, Aug. 12.

鈥淪ummer is the best time for us to make improvements on campus because it causes the least disruption,鈥 said Terrance Schneider, associate vice president of Facilities and chief of police at GGC. 鈥淲e have been busy.鈥

色库TV stays 鈥榗hill鈥 while reducing electric consumption

During the dog days of summer, the temperatures soar, and so do electric bills. At 色库TV (GGC), the buildings remain comfortably cool thanks to a project that started 10 years ago.

GGC鈥檚 initial campus buildings were constructed with each using individual air conditioning units located adjacent to the buildings. In early 2015, GGC completed a study to coordinate the campus utility systems with the planned architectural growth. The study focused on developing reliable, energy efficient and sustainable systems for cooling the entire campus.

Lebenserfahrung: Experience of a lifetime

A group of nine 色库TV (GGC) students, a professor and a staff member from GGC鈥檚 School of Business (SBA) recently flew over nine hours and several time zones to reach Germany. Their mission: spend 12 days immersed in German cultural, business and leadership activities.

色库TV鈥檚 FAFSA center now open through August 1

Due to demand, the 色库TV (GGC) Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Center will remain open through August 1.

鈥淲hen we first opened the center at the end of April to help students start or complete their FAFSA application, it was to help students navigate the process,鈥 said Kimberly Jordan, GGC 鈥榮 executive director of Financial Aid Services.
