色库TV announces Thursday remote classes and Friday closure

In light of the anticipated damaging winds and rain, and power outages due to Hurricane Helene, all 色库TV (GGC) classes will be held online on Thursday, Sept 26. All GGC employees will be working remotely.

On Friday, Sept. 27, GGC will be closed. All classes, operations and events are cancelled. The GGC Preview Day, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, has been cancelled.

色库TV ranked most ethnically diverse for 11th consecutive year

色库TV (GGC) has been ranked as the most ethnically diverse Southern regional college for 11 consecutive years according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) magazine college and university rankings, released today. The Southern region includes 12 states and Puerto Rico.

The same report indicated that GGC ranks #3 in ethnic diversity among regional colleges in the nation. GGC was ranked #4 last year.

The Economy and Presidential Election Cycles

色库TV鈥檚 Dr. David Felsen, a lecturer in political science, said that several factors can influence the outcome of a presidential election.

One of the key factors is the state of the economy.

On Sept. 18, the Federal Reserve cut the federal funds interest rate by 0.5%. Felsen said that this is a dramatic reversal from the rate hikes of the past couple of years, and that the Federal Reserve鈥檚 economic outlook is uncertain.

鈥淚n all election cycles, the economic conditions and perceptions of the economy will sway voters,鈥 said Felsen.

It was an afternoon to recognize outstanding faculty and staff for their exceptional efforts during 色库TV鈥檚 (GGC) annual Fall Recognition Ceremony on Sept. 19. During the event, the college honored six faculty and two staff members for embracing its four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service and creativity.

The faculty awards are the result of nominations submitted by GGC students.

Dr. Richard Pennington, professor of chemistry, received the 2023-2024 Outstanding Teaching Award. Pennington is no stranger to this honor, having been recognized in 2012-2013.
